Dude, Can’t Find Your Car? Next Time, Try ‘I Parked Here’

by JasonBlack

OK, this app makes it too easy to call up references to the Ashton Kutcher comedy from 2000, so we’ll try to leave out the goofy references.

Let’s just start by saying, if Ashton had the “I Parked Here” app on his mobile phone at the time, the movie never would have been made.

The premise of this app could not be any more simple:

  • Park your car.
  • Tag your car’s current location using the app on your Nokia mobile device.
  • And then, when you’re ready, find your car again using the same app.

The app was created by Tullamore, Ireland-based Staron Limited in partnership with Skyhook Wireless.

For convenience, the app really only has two buttons: one to set your current location, and another to display the location where your car was last parked.

Additionally – and this is really handy – right after you tag your current parked location (“Remember my car” button), you have an option to set an alarm for later, reminding you if you paid a parking meter that is about to expire! I know that will come in handy at some point down the line.

When you’re ready to go find your car – assuming you can’t begin to remember where you parked it, you simply press the “Find my car” button, and the application syncs up with Ovi Maps on your Nokia device to show you the precise location where you left your car, and then you can get the route to take to go to it.

Of course, if your car looks like mine (a big orange toaster on wheels), an app like this might not always be necessary:

I’ve been testing the app on my Nokia 5800 XpressMusic device, and it works precisely as expected. The app works on a wide range of Nokia S60 3rd Edition and 5th Edition devices, as noted on the developer’s website.

The full version of “I Parked Here” is available for $2.99 in Ovi Store. A free, five-day trial version of the app is also now available in Ovi Store.

Staron has another travel-related app in Ovi Store called “Near Here” that features really useful location-based content. A free, five-day trial version of the app is available for download.

Try using this in a underground parking lot and see how well it works for you…FAIL.

  • To Freeman

If you can’t find your car by yourself in an underground parking lot, chances are that you are too retarded to even have a driving license.
