JoikuSpot for WiFi (Just About) Everywhere
by KevinSharp
JoikuSpot Light turns your mobile network connection into a WiFi hotspot. WiFi hot spots seem to be just about everywhere these days, except where you need them. That’s the power of JoikuSpot – anywhere you can get a mobile phone connection, you have a WiFi hotspot. Even when a WiFi connection is available, it sometimes makes economic sense to use JoikuSpot. For example, three business partners making a quick WiFi connection in an American hotel can easily fork over about $60 if they each make a connection directly to the hotel’s $19.95 per day network. All three can share a single JoikuSpot connection. They’re not going to watch video over their connections, but they can sure pick up e-mail. I tested the free Joikuspot Lite version on my Nokia N97 over a T-Mobile connection.
In case you are wondering about the name Joiku, it refers to the music of Lapland. You can catch some Joiku singing and drumming by the Helsinki-based folk group Angelit from the Faces Etno Festival 2007.
