Well, there’s only 22 days left until Christmas, so we better start making a list of holiday apps in Ovi Store, and checking it twice, right? (OK, silly, I know, but the holiday spirit is hard to avoid …) If you want to get into a holiday frame of mind now, download the free “Xmas Calendar Touch” for your Nokia S60 5th Edition device (such as the Nokia N97 or Nokia 5800 XpressMusic) from Offscreen.

This app is much more than just a mobile advent calendar – although it does do a really nice job there, too. On screen you will see a Christmas tree, with 24 shiny silver ornaments. Once a day in December until Christmas, one of those numbered ornaments will change into a decorated ornament on the tree … so far so good.

Pretty to look at, right? Now what?

Tap on one of the decorated ornaments, and find your surprise! Each ornament on the tree is tied to a free app in Ovi Store – all from the publishers at Offscreen. Day one is “Colour Master Touch” which is a lot like a board game better known as “Mastermind.”

Each day, a different app – a different little gift, as you count down the days until Christmas. What a treat.

Note, you can’t skip ahead, and click through on any of the ornaments that still have numbers – only the ornaments that have changed to a decorated form are clickable. This makes sense, right? And, it helps to keep an element of surprise to this mobile Christmas calendar. I know I will be checking it daily to see what surprise is revealed next.
