A classic console game ported over beautifully to mobile. A worm using a spacesuit that gives human-like powers, Earthworm Jim must stop an evil force using his pea shooter and whiptastic sidearm. It’s a run-and-jump platformer, but it’s all about characters here: random crows attacking from above, animated garbage cans with vendettas and, perhaps the most strange, cows used as checkpoints.

Graphics
The graphics on this one are really spectacular. The colors are super sharp, and the animations play very smoothly. The looks and feel of the original console game is truly preserved on the handset.

Game play
The game features running, gunning, and swinging from hooks with your head, launching cows, bungee jumping, and rocketing through speed levels, face 12 types of enemies and nine bosses, four different styles of game play: side-scrolling run and gun, space racing, bungee jumping, and underwater levels, 10 original environments divided into 16 levels.

Music/Sound FX
Very cool music track, and crisp sound effects throughout the game.

Controls
Simple controls here. A touch joystick on the left-hand side controls Earthworm Jim, and by tapping the ‘worm button’ it flicks his worm-whip, and while tapping the ‘fire’ button shoots the gun. The one interesting thing I noticed is that while shooting your gun the aiming is automatic and will lock on to the closet enemy.

Gameloft’s remake brings the 1994 iconic run-and-gun platform game that conquered millions of fans with components all reworked to fit the best standards on mobile. Master Jim’s powers in a wacky quest throughout the galaxy to rescue Princess What’s-Her-Name, and defeat your arch-enemy, Psy-Crow!

I think it is very obvious here that Gameloft has worked wonders mobile adaptation of Earthworm Jim, paying great respect to the retro platformer and delivering it to a whole new audience with skill and respect.
