Share with Ease Using Pixelpipe Media Uploader on the Nokia N900
by JasonBlack
As we continue to explore the apps that are now available in the Ovi Store Beta release for the Nokia N900, today we are very happy to share our experience with the social networking super tool Pixelpipe Media Uploader.
Like its name suggests, you can use this latest version of Pixelpipe to quickly and easily share files on your Nokia N900 mobile computer – such as pictures, video and even audio files – using the service to upload content to those sharing services that you use the most, including sites like Facebook, Twitter, and more.
This version of Pixelpipe integrates with the sharing feature on the device – it’s identified with the little connect-the-dots type icon that appears (for example) below pictures when you are viewing them on your device. If you’re still figuring out all of the features and functionality on your Nokia N900 (and don’t worry about that! there’s a lot to learn!), there are five icons to get to know on the device – the fourth one is the one you need for sharing: Rotate, Crop, Tag, Share, and Delete.
So, you click that sharing icon, and then select “Share via service” to get to Pixelpipe. If you don’t have an account, it is free to create one, and only take a minute or two to set it up. When you create your Pixelpipe account for the first time you can also decide which services you want to use when sharing files/media from your Nokia device – the choices available to you are really extensive. Details are available in the official Pixelpipe blog.
Let’s suppose you’ve chosen a picture from your device that you want to share. You can quickly enter a title for the image, as well as a description about it – the qwerty keyboard on the Nokia N900 makes this a snap. And from there, you can then add “tags” to your post. A number of common tags are included with the app, but you can also add new tags with ease. As you can see, you can tap any of the tags displayed to add those specific tags to the image that you plan to share.
You can also add “geotags” to your post, if you want to specify the location of the image or media that you plan to share – the app identifies your current and recent locations, as well as listing other major destinations (there are a few cities listed that I would love to highlight! – maybe someday …).
When you’re ready, press the “share” button, and Pixelpipe does the rest, posting your image or other media to the destinations you have specified. And, as you would expect from Pixelpipe, the app is super fast and easy to use.
If you plan to use the camera built in to your Nokia N900 on a regular basis – and if you are going to share your pics and video with family and friends – make sure you have Pixelpipe installed.
The Pixelpipe Media Uploader is free to download from the Ovi Store Beta release for theNokia N900.
