Best Safe Lite Offers Data Protection and Peace of Mind
by MartinMarshall
Best Safe Lite is about as easy to use and as necessary as an application gets. The fact is, purses get lost, jackets get left behind, mobile devices tumble out of unsecured pockets when getting in and out of tight places, and in some instances mobile devices get stolen. If any of these scenarios come to pass, then the fact that key personal information is protected on the device by Best Safe Lite comes as a great relief.
Of course, the safest option is to just not carry any sensitive information on your mobile device, but is that really an option? Who can remember all of the emergency numbers, credit card info, bank info, friends information, contracts information, combination lock information, address information, e-mail account information, health policy numbers, social security numbers, FTP server information, business card information and other such things that one might need out on the road? I have a pretty good memory, but don’t even want to try to keep all of that stuff in my head. Writing it on little slips of paper and sticking those in my wallet or jacket pocket doesn’t seem like a very secure option either.
So, Best Safe Lite looks like a very good option. I just have to remember one password that unlocks up to 45 templates of data. The information is Blowfish encrypted and uses MD5 for message digest algorithms, so I don’t think that hackers will get very far with it even if my Nokia mobile device is lost or stolen.
After downloading Best Safe Lite for free from Ovi Store, I tried it out on my Nokia N97. It is available for other devices such as a variety of S60 5th Edition, 3rd Edition, and selected earlier devices in both English and Russian language versions. The first thing that it told me was that the Lite version of the software has a limitation of 5 items. That seemed quite reasonable for starters, and when one gets serious about filing things away, the full version at $2.99 (USD) is a small price to pay for the added security.
Step 1, create a password for Best Safe Lite. This is the only one that I have to remember. Step 2, start storing information. I chose Options, and the app presented me with a array of different types of folders, from credit cards to prepaid phone cards and others.
I chose to enter a credit card number first.
It is really just a matter of filling in the fields (and no, I’m not going to show my actual credit card info, sorry).
After doing that for a few things, the main screen on my Best Safe Lite looked like this:
As you can see, I customised the names of the categories to jog my own memory. I use Seawolf, for example, as an international calling card, and Mastercard as a credit card.
I can see where eventually the search function in Best Safe Lite can come into play. Using Options/Search, you can ask it to display just that folder or folders whose text matches a certain search criteria. This becomes an additional form of memory as I ask myself questions like ‘What was the contact info for that guy from Roseville?’ when the folder was not named after Roseville but I remember that Roseville was part of the text.
Another handy feature of the app is its automatic lock. If I forget that I have the application open, it locks itself after a specified time of inactivity.
Best Safe Lite can be downloaded for free from Ovi Store. The version with unlimited entries, Best Safe, can be downloaded from Ovi Store for $2.99 (USD).
