Have you every wished you could write a little app for your Nokia, but had no desire to learn how to write apps for your Nokia? Then MoBots from Deimos is for you. The MoBots you can get for free in Ovi Store is not quite an app, through you download it like an app and you install it like an app. It’s more like a programming language (a scripting language if you want to get picky) but it’s way more fun to play with than that. MoBots also refers to the little apps you create — the Mobile Robots that do your bidding. If someone looks over your shoulder while you are using MoBots, they will probably think you are playing a game. So let’s call it a game that you play to create apps you can use.

MoBots makes writting little apps fun.

MoBots breaks your app down to its basics. It lets you arrange blocks on a screen to put together events (Yellow blocks signifying things that can happen which will cause your MoBot to do something), conditions (green blocks indicating stuff that must be true or not true before the MoBot will do something) and commands (blue blocks describing the stuff your MoBot will do.)

• Run when “one of my buddies calls me” [Event]
• and if I am currently in the cinema then [Condition]
• change the phone profile to silent [Command]
• and show the text “Don’t forget to buy concert tickets” [Command]
• and send an SMS to the caller to say “I am busy now, I’ll call later”.

Even if you have never programmed anything other than your home video recorder, you can create something fun and handy for use on your Nokia handset using MoBots. In fact, even if you could never quite figure out how to program your video recorder, you can still make something fun with MoBots, too.
