How about a game for your Nokia mobile device that combines a couple of childhood favorites in a single package? Take your favorite Lego bricks, and put them in superhero format – in this case, the dark knight himself, Batman, and you have a recipe for fun.

The game Lego Batman by Zed UK for your Nokia mobile device is an engaging action-packed romp that puts you in the role of the caped crusader. All heck has broken out in Gotham – what else is new, right? – and only Batman can restore order to the city.Some of the premise is shown in the screenshot below.

The game is a classic side-scrolling style, so you must work your way back and forth, up and down, and battle your way past bad guys galore. I’ve been playing the game on my Nokia E72 – it is compatible with a huge range of Nokia S60 3rd Edition as well as Series 40 devices – and the scrollpad works fine for movement within the game. There is also the option to use numeric keys to control the action.

There are good sounds, and the game can be played in any of several different languages, which is a nice option.

My favorite part though, is the subtle nod to Lego that the game provides. The characters are all appropriately chunky, and when you bust through one of the goons (bad guys), he pops into loads of little Lego brick pieces along the streets of the city. Not gory, but very satisfying.

There is a useful Help section in the game to explain the finer details of gameplay, but it is also the sort of game where you can just jump right in, and start throwing down, Batman style.
