The Winners of the Daily App Skills Fitness Challenge

by JasonBlack

As we noted last week, it’s time to wrap-up our latest Daily App Skills challenge. We asked our fitness pro Joanna Sayers to review all of the entries we received from people who were documenting their progress using Endomondo Sports Tracker, and to provide her assessment of the Top 3 enthusiasts. Her picks are below.

But before we get to her decision, we just want to send out a HUGE round of Thank Yous to everyone that did participate in this challenge! We hope you found it to be fun – and worthwhile. We’ll be back with a new challenge soon.

And, if you missed it, you can still get a copy of the two-week fitness routine that Joanna prepared especially for the readers of Ovi Daily App: Nokia Fitness Workout_JSayers

Now, here are the winners, as selected by Joanna:

1st place – Al Pavangkanan

Joanna notes: “First place goes to Al for his persistence (he didn’t get put off when the software crashed) and his objective comparison between Endomondo and Sports Tracker.”

Al’s first workout with Endomondo was a hike in Encino, California, up to the Nike Missile Silo site. After an impressive 1.41 mile hike, Al shared with us the amazing views of LA, filmed on his Nokia 5530. Al also shared a comparison between Sportstracker and Endomondo, with Endomondo just “tipping the scales” with its Twitter and Facebook feature. Al’s second workout started in Fryman Canyon Park in Studio City, but experienced some problems navigating due to some overgrown bush. After driving to Willacre Park, Al restarted his hike but had another bout of bad luck when his Nokia N97 crashed .64 miles into his hike. However, this did not deter him and he finished the downhill trail portion and recorded his steady workout with Endomondo.

Here are some links where you can follow along with Al’s progress:

2nd place – Hari Gupta

Joanna notes: “Second place goes to Hari Gupta for a great video and sounding so enthusiastic!”

Hari gave us a great overview of his two weeks using the Endomondo app, with a post every couple of days documenting his workouts. After giving us a great summary of what the app can do, he started his fitness regime with some gentle walking workouts, but soon progressed to running and cycling. Hari wrapped up his whole Endomondo experience with a great video showing each stage of his workout, and put to the tune of “Eye of the Tiger” which Hari says was “really motivating” to use.

3rd place – Graham Cameron and Sergejs Cuhrajs

Joanna states: “Joint third place goes to Graham Cameron and Sergejs for their informative tweets.”

Graham and Sergejs gave us a great insight into their Endomondo workouts by Tweeting photos, screenshots and general updates on how their fitness regimes were going. Graham shared some great runs including one down by the beach, and also commented on how much he liked the voice feature of the app, and its simplicity to download.

Sergejs shared a “bit of everything” for his entry, including a photo of his bike which he used during the Daily App Skills challenge.

So, now it is up to you … Have you been using Endomondo Sports Tracker to keep tabs on your fitness routine? Or perhaps a different app on your Nokia device? Tell us about your progress in the Comments section below.

And remember, if you don’t yet have the app, you can download Endomondo Sports Tracker for free from Ovi Store.
