WordPress Now has an App for Nokia Devices, too
by JasonBlack
Well this is simply swell. WordPress, the blogging tool that we use here at the Ovi Daily App blog, now has an app for use on Nokia devices. To be fair, right now the app is only available for a few Nokia handsets, such as the Nokia N97 mini and the X6, but you’ve got to start somewhere, right?
I’m pretty impressed, with this initial trial. Yes, for the record, this entire post is being written and set up using the mobile app – free to download from Ovi Store – from the convenience of my Nokia N97 mini. Now, we can blog anytime, anyplace – as long as we have access to the Web for posting purposes. Some would call this “eating our own dog food.” And in this case, it tastes pretty darn good.
And, as I am learning, you can save your work as you go, and re-open the draft blog posts that are in progress for additions, edits and whatnot.
So, yeah, this is pretty sweet.
There was one small hiccup this morning when I first tried the app. You need to configure one thing on the back-end of your WordPress account before using this app for the first time. Something called the XML RPC interface needs to be enabled. Your site administrator should be able to help you; and once that is set up, you will be on your way.
The WordPress for Nokia mobile app is free to download in Ovi Store: WordPress.
More information is available at: WordPress for Nokia.
Editor’s Note: For the record, I did some fine tuning to this post in the main Web-based admin tool for WordPress, but 95% of this post was all composed and organized using the mobile app. This could be habit forming.
