TRON Legacy: The Trivia Challenge Begins for Your Nokia N8
by MartinMarshall
A lot of geekdom has passed along the light rail from the 1982 classic Tron to this month’s sequel. Are you ready for it? If so, then hop on board the free download of the TRON: Legacy trivia game and test your skills. Participate by 3 December, and you can also enter the prize drawing to win two tickets to Los Angeles for the TRON: Legacy premiere and your own private advance screening. You will also find exclusive content for your Nokia N8 just by playing the game and solving the trivia questions.
OK, here goes. I fired up my Nokia N8 and saw the initial screen, and jumped straight into taking the challenge. It challenged me to look up Flynn’s Arcade on Ovi Maps, and to look for a 3-character code next to the icon for Flynn’s Arcade. This code only exists on Ovi Maps, so knowing that Flynn’s Arcade is in Disneyland doesn’t do you any good without Ovi Maps. That code gets you into the main trivia game.
Once inside the game, you see the Encom Mainframe, which has five sectors with three subsectors each.
This translates into fifteen trivia question that must be answered to solve the riddle. Each sector contains an audio clip to identify, a character to identify, and a puzzle. These individual subsectors are opened by clicking on them, and each uses up one of the three keys that you are allowed. You have to complete the sector before being allowed another set of three keys.
I cannot give you the answers to the questions, but I can show you what a few of the questions look like.
In sector 1, you get the above screen, and clicking on it plays the audio clip. It is one of the first lines that you hear in the trailer for the film, and you have to identify who said it.
Next, you get to identify a character via a visual clue such as the one shown below:
Before the movie is actually available, you might have to search sources such as the IMDB.com movie database or disney.com/tron website to figure out the identity of the character. After the movie comes out it will be a test of your memory.
Thirdly, there is the puzzle aspect of the challenge. In Sector 1, for example, you are challenged to identify the vehicle shown below, whose image has been scrambled among 13 pieces. If you remember the 1982 movie well enough, you will remember this classic construction.
I could go on, but I don’t want to spoil your fun! Have at it, and good luck!
The TRON: Legacy trivia app is available for free in Ovi Store for use on the Nokia N8.
