Update your new Symbian phone with the latest Store client

A quick update for everyone:

You should now have the latest Ovi Store client. How can you check it? If you open the Store on your Nokia smartphone and check the version under the Account Tab > Help > About, you should have a version number of at least 2.12.xxx.

However, some of you with new Symbian phones (e.g. Nokia N8) were unable to complete the installation of the latest Store client. If this happened to you, the Ovi Store team has released a stand-alone installation package which contains an updated version of the Ovi Store client. It also updates some middleware used by the Store and many other apps.

You can download it from http://lr.ovi.mobi/store/client-symbian-3/ directly to your new Symbian device. When prompted for the installation destination, please choose the C: drive. Confirm all prompts during the installation. Note that additional middleware components may be downloaded to your device if they require updates.

Finally, the total download size can be larger than 10 MB, so you may want to be connected via WLAN while performing this update over the air.

    My Ovi Store says it is version 2.08.042. When I download the  http://lr.ovi.mobi/store/client-symbian-3 file it says it is V1.00 do I want to over write V2.08.042. Seems that something is amiss.

    why the mass memory is often lost in the constant requests If I load down software? but in the application menu is still there, these matters are always true to my mass memory. I met with failure and should not be opened in the mass memory and phone software me to playwhen happen.after software repacking into new pc now returned to normal .. i tired and verybored as this.i hate often tired and very often to the ovisuite to refresh software fromcomputer .. What problems are always applicable to my phone? There are other ways tosolve this problem to me? I expect help from nokia solve this problem I have. Often so I donot go back to ovisute to pack my phone now.

    My ovi store stopped working after I did a delete and restore factory settings on my N8. Same thing happened to my friend’s phone. After troubleshooting with nokia reps, still it didn’t work. I am starting to believe that this is an issue with Nokia as it happens to most of the users who factory resets their phones.Nokia should release an update or resolve this issue as soon as possible or else they will increase frustrations to Nokia users.

    Hello – Please be advised that I am currently in a part of the country that was devastated by a major snow storm, and we do NOT have electricity in our town. Officials expect it may be up to another week before power is fully restored. I am /trying/ to get online when/where I can – but access is sporadic and highly limited.     Dear, I have downloaded this latest store client to my nokia n8 and installed in my c drive. but when i open store, its says “there was a problem opening this page. it could be a lost connection or a slow network. Check your connection or try again later”. I am sure there is no problem in connection or a network.. All very fast and configured correctly. So Nokia Support Team, Do something for us..
    Otherwise i will go for Android.. I am a Nokia Fan since long long years back..

    It looks pretty handy having the new Store client installed on Nokia phone. I tried to install this tool earlier but failed, I guess that’s because I probably got one of the new Symbian phones you mentioned in this post. I’ll try the stand-alone package instead, it should work for me, I think. Thanks for the info!
