Nokia Messaging for Social Networks Beta 2

December 14th, 2009 at 9:57 PM

Hello,

Warm up your Twitter fingers, the latest Nokia Messaging for Social Networks beta has now added support for Twitter, making tweeting even more convenient from the homescreen of your Nokia handset.

Back in September 2009, we introduced the first iteration of the social networking beta that let people view, post, and comment on messages, share their location and status while keeping up with their Facebook friends right from their Nokia handsets. This was only the start. The majority of the feedback given by beta testers was to add support for other social networking communities (Twitter, done! More to come!) Testers also asked for enhancements to the Facebook functionality. We took your advice and have added these new features:

  • Upload pictures and videos
  • Events: View upcoming events, birthdays and import to device calendar
  • Search friends
  • Click-to-call / click-to-SMS / click-to-FB Email

We invite you to download and test drive this social networking client from Nokia Beta Labs. This is an early preview, currently available on Nokia N97, Nokia N97 Mini, and Nokia 5800 devices, we will support more devices in the future. We also invite you to visit http://messaging.nokia.com to see what’s available for your device from Nokia Messaging.

Hello,

The Nokia Messaging team would like to welcome you to the Nokia Messaging blog! Nokia Messaging is a service that lets you actively communicate with your friends via your favorite email, instant messaging, and social networking communities on your Nokia device. Nokia Messaging was originally introduced as an S60 email beta in August 2008, and now includes S60, S40, Maemo, as well as instant messaging and a beta for social networking. Many Nokia devices now included Nokia Messaging for Email built-in, enabling push delivery of your Gmail, Yahoo! Mail and Windows Live Hotmail as well as thousands of other POP/IMAP accounts. We’re currently introducing new products and beta trials of IM and Social Networking.

This blog is up to bring you the latest product news, tips and tricks and other information about Nokia Messaging. As a program, we have always worked closely with our end users to see what features and feedback they have about the products. We’re active on Facebook, Twitter and YouTube, and we plan to use this blog to explain in greater details news and notes about the products.

You probably already have Nokia Messaging for email on your device, but, if you don’t you can visit (http://email.nokia.com) to sign up today. There’s also Nokia Messaging Betas available for Instant Messaging and Social Networking. We’ll be constantly adding support for more devices and communities, so stay tuned for more exciting updates. We’re also working on making it easy to see exactly what’s available from Nokia Messaging for your phone in the country you live in.

The Nokia Messaging team is looking forward to working with you to make Nokia Messaging the best mobile messaging experience available for any platform.

Thanks,
-The Nokia Messaging Team
