Hi all,
My name is Nick Leppänen Larsson and I’m a software developer by trade and a geek by choice. This last weekend I hacked together a small application so you can customize your beautiful N9 even more!
End result is something like this:
So how does it work? Basically, there is room on the lock screen allocated for operator customization (which some of you might have noticed). What my small application does is allow you to set your own image there instead. From a technical point of view it’s as simple as changing a gconf value (/desktop/meego/screen_lock/low_power_mode/operator_logo) to point to your own PNG-file (120×120, preferably black and white only).
Initial proof-of-concept application in Qt and QML was done in less than an hour, so no comments about the UI;-)
Latest version of the app is available here and see updates from me on Twitter.

Nice one! Thanks for this.
And thats why I love you. This is the kind of stuff the N9 needs imo. Job well done!
Any other projects in the work for the extemely fun N9?
quick sidenote: app shuts down when clicking gallery. It didnt when I had 3 pictures there, then I transferred a ton of images, tried again, and it just closes the app upon press.

@Rasmus: Ah, so that’s why it’s crashing for some people… I guess the quick model I hacked together is not fast enough
https://projects.frals.se/dbg/se-frals-lpmcustomizer_1.0.0_armel.deb should fix the problem

Hello Sir…
i want to know…why nokia N9 was not launched in india…???
According to a survey, it has been cleared that Nokia is facing a tough competition at world level, but in India, users’ number one choice is nothing but Nokia. People trust the brand due to its reliable functionality and long lasting durability.
Indian people love Nokia the similar way they did earlier. The brand Nokia is trusted by name and famous among customers of India.
so please launch N9 in india…
This would be very useful if, instead of a picture, you could show your next active alarm.
Hm same version and filename I allready have, but no matter?
@Rasmus: Yes, didn’t change the version since I was lazy, but it is a different package
Will fix it for the next release, promise
Cool
.
Could I suggest something? Maybe make one able to crop a piece of any image to use for the logo? Also, would be awesome if it had a built in way to make your cropped image change to b/w plus invert b/w.
That reads horribly… Basically would be awesome to click “gallery”, pick a picture, getting a choice that turns the image black and white, another choice to invert the blacks and whites in the picture (that sounds so racist), then choose which part of the picture to use as your screen lock image.
Have NO idea if any of this is doable, but my GOD it would be glorious.
Thanks for the new deb! However it says “damaged installation package” when I try to run it from File Manager.
Sweet!
