(71 votes, average: 4.44 out of 5)With the launch of the Nokia N97 fast upon us, we wanted to share an exclusive film showing behind-the scenes footage from the team involved. Featuring unseen interviews with Nokia designers from the core development team, the film charts the journey from design to production line.
Uncover Nokia’s obsession with perfection which led the team to design the unique slide QWERTY keyboard and tilt screen, or the customisable 16:9 widescreen display, which is frequently updated with the new content from live widgets and feeds.

no doubt this video was well produced but it is very pointless. i feel like i just watched a very long and boring commercial that was trying to sell me a n97 by pushing the facebook widget. i think facebook was mentioned 20 times. i really dont care about the desert or people walking in fast frame or the phone being open and closed over and over and over. unless the next gen iphone really blows me away (and i mean multitasking, flash, gps, etc) then i am definitely getting the n97. but i would have rather watched a video that followed some kind of timeline about the creation of the device instead of random tangents from people. and clips of production facilities or rough draft sketches would have been both more entertaining and more relevant than a lot of what was shown. i want at least 5 of my 7 minutes back.

I can't wait to get this phone. I just hope…no I demand!…that Nokia gets its act together and provides accessories ala the iphone. I have made my peace w/ it having dual led flash instead of the xenon, but at least have an add-on like the sleeve you can slide over your iphone to give it a xenon flash. Why not??? A xenon flash & 5mp camera would easily replace a separate digital camera!

One more thought…why can't they bundle this thing and get it subsidized? It makes no sense…unless Nokia wants to lose more of its market share, they better revamp their strategy, that's all I have to say. Look at the car companies…they need to minimize the different lines of phones they make, and focus on maybe a 3 tier level…1 cheap phone, 1 mid-level (aka the 5800) and 1 high end, and make it the best, and sell it subsidized w/ a 2year plan!

Unfortunately Apple dominates the app situation..hopefully Nokia can figure a way to make the N97 a truly useful device as easily as Apple has made the Iphone useful and extremely user friendly. Be a shame if not

first of all thanks for reaping me off by selling me 5800 which is virtually same as n97. 5800 is just half cooked whereas n97 is fully cooked. There is no whatsoever a reason for not to include all these widgets on 5800. 5800 is my first nokia phone and will be may last. Nokia definitely needs to learn from apple on how to treat their customers instead of reaping them off by putting minor software tweaks and selling a whole new phone which is twice the price of original phone.
Just damn relase the formware for 5800 to fix all the issues and add the widgets to the 5800.

I think this is the world # 1 device, if only has faster processor (ARM 11 434 MHz processor) this speed is quite slow to meet these grate applications and to manage a huge amount of data 32Gb.
Over all it’s a great device and I’m going to own it as soon as it released,
but unfortunately pre-order is not available in my country sudan.

Have you ever tried flipping a picture in an iPhone? The picture frame moves with your finger .. smooth.. not half a second later or with a wait icon like in Nokia. Nokia seems not get this? iPhone is great not because of its screen touch but because of its seamless software response. My suggestion: work on the inside – better processor/ better OS. The fancy widgets and facebook apps will follow…

I am a big fan of Nokia starting from 9210i, 9300, e90 and now I'm using e71. But now most of my friend has been shifted to blackberry (including my wife). I was wondering why…
Feature wise e71 has much better technology…front camera, better GPS and navigation (I love this feature!!)..But the more I compare these two brand, it seems that Blackberry invite people to use their device by SOLUTION!
What I mean about that ….It’s simple, easy to use, and definitely user friendly…Facebook do not ask! Easy. and their ultimate weapon..BlackBerry Messenger (instant messaging)..Sending photo, voice, chat and other…one click away…it’s integrated, its bundled. While Nokia, as I said that it may have a better technology, but as a user, we are not equipped with easy solutions…we need to put an extra effort to organise the setting….for example…sharing photo and video…you need to go to OVI and store it there , sent the link,e-mail or perhaps have your picture updated within your contact…OVI Contact…though it has a location sharing through maps feature(amazing feature!…but how frequent you share your location with your friends?), voice sharing…yet no picture sharing … Why…while in blackberry, again as I said one click away….only exchange your pin and you are connected….
I look forward to find out more about N97 as an ultimate nokia device…I think…from what I see…a better facebook interface …touch screen…(compared to BB storm ..I don’t know… I start to love the way they design clickable screen)….a very stylish nokia design…and with this, I hope OVI also can develop itself to match BB integrated solutions…
Previously I claimed that except for its blackberry messenger and the trackball… my E71 is still a much better device. Now I start to wonder about that… I been trying very hard to figure out how can my nokia (with its OVI, e buddy, nokia messaging and other application I installed) beat my wife BB Javelin, in terms of the easiness in chatting, Facebook, Sharing picture and voice …..(Which I think other features are pretty the same) ……unfortunately I start to claim that nokia is not a better device (please anybody advise me I’m wrong! And brief me about anything that I don’t know about this battle between nokia and bb)
I must tell you that more than 95% friend of mine (previously having nokia) has replace their device with one of BB models. I have set a target that after this June, after looking at N97, and hopefully a better OVI service … I will decide to change my E71…my choices will be N97 vs. BB Storm ……please somebody advise me and convince me that N97 with its OVI is a better device than Black Berry Storm …
