‘The N97 GPS lock seems to be much faster than the N82 or N95. In fact it seems to be almost as fast as the lock from the dedicated Nokia LD-4W GPS. I’ll try to do some more formal measurements later but subjectively it has been impressively fast so far! ‘
- Roland Tanglao
‘The home screen is one of the most informative that we have ever come across in a smartphone.’
– Rajat Agrawal, CellPasson.com
‘This baby is sexy, my girlfriend immediately said “I want one”. So there is definitely a physical wow factor about this phone. I’ve had looks of people staring on the train and bus, so yeah enough said.’
- Christopher Stobbs
‘Web Browsing Is a joy, its fabulous using the full screen in landscape with the keyboard its easier than a PC with keyboard and mouse. The keyboard is delightful to use’
- Dynomot, NokiaUsers.net
‘Build Quality is great. The N97 “feels” expensive (and it should at that cost). Others have said it before, and I can confirm that this Nseries device actually does feel like an Eseries. The build quality is that good.’

All hail suhail.. I totally agree with you man. I WAS very excited about the N97 until I came across a near comprehensive list of its features. Well I always knew it had a 5MP camera and wished it was at least 8, but when I found out about the slow processor and non-dedicated GPU, I, I… it is too painful to mention man. I care absolutely nothing about OS efficiency-hardware trade off; I measure the value of my phone strictly on the basis of hardware capabilities and will forever do so until the parts of the phone become upgradeable. If the parts were updateable and the software was not my focus would also switch from hardware centric to OS-software centric. Nokia, a wha dat yuh do? Otherwise the phone tough still.

Well I love it. There are issues from from a FW point of view, but most of these should be overcome by upcoming FW updates. Other than the FW issues the apps I am using run smoothly and for me I think the hardware (when the FW is sorted) will kill every other phone on the market. Lovin' it.

I'm sick, sick, sick I can't what to get my hands on this Phone. And they haven't even released it here in Ireland yet for some god only knows reason. They say it is because you can make calls while suffering the net and this doesn't cost but of course it costs to log on so whats the big deal. Some companys just want it all. So you see I am sick with envy !
By the time we get our hands on it here like with the N95 they will bring out a new model. I was pretty cross with that having paid full wack for the phone.
But in saying that I now know that the N95 is a better system the N958GB..

The N97 does not work on T-Mobile USA's 3G network. When are you going to release an Nseries phone that does?

"Initial response"? All major techno blogs have reviewed this phone already and the response has been lukewarm or negative.
I bought the phone as an advance subscriber ovee a week ago in Finland. It has its virtues but certainly it is not worth the name flagship.

Paul Campbell,
you buy a phone for the "experience" it can provide, not its "hardware". If the so called OS efficiency-hardware is high in this very phone while offering a nice UI and a long battery life, why should one care about what's inside?
If you care so much about performance you can always buy yourself a nice warm (actully burning hot!) 3GS and play with it as long as its battery can stand… which is less than 18-24 hours…

I got the phone and got rid of it in 2 days flat. It is so bad..but I was ready to take a loss, as I couldnt possibly get over the idea of living with this thing.
The keyboard is counter intuitive. The UI is really really bad.
Nokia has lost it completely. Its going the way of the American auto industry – trying to make dinosaur like phones with a terrible user experience…
4 taps to make a phone call!

Nokia seem to have released this phone without doing even basic checks on the robustness of its operating system and GUI. The GPS fix is continuously lost, messages are saved to the tiny C: drive which contains the operating system stopping you using many applications and once and it's difficult to answer the phone when it's locked. So a flagship phone you can't receive calls on. SW updates urgently needed. The v. 11 update seems to have stalled after release in the US due to it containing so many bugs.
Apple would not release such a poor product.

Since I knew the new Nokia N97, I full in love, since i was a teen, I was a fan of cell phones, and even now I keep a few copies of the first cell phones in the market.
The years have passed and today there are mobile like the Nokia N97, I think humans could never imagine how far reaching this section of the technology.
For me it is impossible financial situations purchase a N97, so I went to see it in a shop and became fascinated by the multi-function that has its keyboard, large screen, the resolution of the camera, and especially his personalized homepage.
Undoubtedly, the Nokia N97 mobile the best invention that mankind has known so far.

Why can't Nokia Australia and Telstra ever get it right and offer the "flagship" Nokia phones for WCDMA 850 here. If the RM507 variant of the N97 is available in the USA, it should be available here for Telstra customers. Nokia & Telstra need to get over their "market dominance" complexes and start looking after all of their customers.
