Cityman competition shortlist is here!

Sorry it took us so long! The jury was hard-pressed trying to choose between all the great entries. As to the discussion whether photo editing was permitted – we have nothing against a bit of retouching magic, as long as you’ve obeyed the rules.

Without further due, here are the 10 best entries as chosen by the jury. The polls are now open, so vote for your most accomplished Cityman. The winner of the vote will become Cityman 2009, and gets to choose between a Nokia N900 or a N97mini! We’ve extended the time for voting until October 23rd 2pm UK time, so you’ll have plenty of time to cast yours.

So- you're logging into remote machines to use their unique IP to vote? Yeah, I'm sure that's what the sponsors had in mind. The whole thing is starting to make sense now. At least everyone that couldn't figure it out knows what is going on now- thanks for letting the cat out of the bag right here in front of everyone, Luke. Hasn't got much to do with "luck" though, does it? (or the best picture for that matter)

This is, in my mind, no different than spoofing your IP address so that you can vote more than once- which *is* cheating. That is clearly not within the spirit of the competition, and I would assume that you know this.

Here's a quote from Felbutss-

"This comp is about photographs not Photoshop’s right???"

To which I say, "this comp is about photographs not how to vote for yourself as many times as possible right???"

During the submission process, yes- we accessed Ovi to upload images, and viewers could see them on Ovi. This end of the contest has nothing to do with Ovi- even if someone is watching the machine that you connect to remotely to go in and cast more votes, they're not seeing Ovi anymore- so that very, VERY weak excuse isn't going to fly.

I'm personally very disappointed with what has happened in this competition and how some contestants have conducted themselves from the beginning and what actions they have taken to secure more votes.

Look at the leaderboard, look at the submissions near the bottom. Felbutss, can you *honestly* tell me that you think this competition is still about the photographs?

It's all sadly taken a pretty poor turn, and if all of this is considered to be okay with the sponsor, it's unfortunately the last competition sponsored by Nokia that I'll be participating it.

In retrospect, it was poor form of me indeed to have said anything at all- certainly to indicate that anyone was doing anything improper- for which I apologize to the sponsor, the participants and spectators of this debacle. It's a shame that this took such a nasty turn, and part of the shame is mine for even getting involved when everyone else started crying foul with this guy. I didn’t like what this competition has done to people. It was an unfair the voting system that was developed. It was just too easy for me to get votes; I work with over 3500 people who were willing to vote for me. I help these people everyday so it was like they were returning the favor and they also loved my picture. I love all you guys, and wish we all could have won. I also wish everyone here had more votes. I feel like the mobile community has let everyone down as it was simply two click’s to vote, which was two clicks to hard. I didn’t mean to have such a lead, and I didn’t expect so much support from all my friends who have been watching the whole time.

I hope if there ever was a contest developed in the same way open voting should be abolished. I just want to thank the nseries team and the sponsors for giving everyone the opportunity to have a little bit of fun even though it did get out of hand from the fact I’m a little bit mentally weaker then everyone else, but I’m gland we all worked it out. Thanks guys, I won’t let this opportunity go to waste, and you guys will be hearing from me soon with some apps id like you guys to try.
