PUSH N900 is unique design and hacking project from Nokia – giving designers, hackers, modders, creatives and artists the chance to get their hands on, and heads inside, the new Nokia N900. It launched on 13th September at the onedotzero ‘Adventures in moving image’ event in London, with an open call for ideas that demonstrate how people would hack & mod the N900 to connect it to something they love. The winning submissions will be provided with N900 devices, funding & support to develop their PUSH idea further – the best of which will go on to be showcased in Nokia Flagship Stores across the globe.
To kick things off and really demonstrate the power of the N900, Tinker.it! collaborated with Hyper to create a series of interactive products (the PUSH Briefbots), using the theme of much-loved 1980s toys and products to highlight the new and impressive functionalities and power of the N900 & the Maemo operating system. N900 devices were connected to a Viewmaster®, Rolodex, Speak ‘n’ Spell and an FM radio to do everything from streaming custom artist playlists over FM radio to creating 3D photos. Just a taster of what can be done if the N900 gets in the right hands.
For further information about the PUSH N900 project, head on over to official PUSH blog where you can make a submission, get involved in the discussion or get some inspiration from some of the example hacks. All submissions need to be made before 11th October and the winning projects will be announced on 25th October. So get PUSHing!
