Attempting to sum up in one article all the restaurants in a city like Barcelona, brimming over with great and unique eateries, would be foolish indeed. We can’t claim to have comprehensively surveyed the entire town, enjoyable as that would be! However, we have our favourites, and what’s the harm in sharing them?
El Chipiron
Nothing beats the seafood in this restaurant situated within the Maremagnum complex, except perhaps their paella! One word of warning, however, the incredible panoramic view from your table may well distract you from your meal (momentarily, at least).
Maremagnum shopping centre, 08039 Barcelona
Attic
In a world of overpriced and overly fancy dining, it’s so refreshing to find a place Attic, with its clean layout and no-nonsense dishes. However, we’re evidently not the only ones to have discovered it – it’s usually packed with tourists. Your patience will be rewarded in spades!
Les Rambles 120, Barcelona
Bestial
Don’t let the name put you off – this is actually a mild-mannered (but modern) little restaurant situated close to the beach in a nice little garden. Nothing scary! Only the best Mediterranean cuisine here, served by friendly staff in a light, relaxed atmosphere.
Ramon Trias Fargas, 2-4, Barcelona
Carmelitas
If you fancy some simple, traditional Catalonian fare, just like mother used to make it, you won’t find better than Carmelitas, which you’ll find near La Boqueira. If asked for a recommendation, I’d have to point to the pasta con alcalchofas – impossible cheap at just 11€.
C/ Doctor Dou 1, 08001 Barcelona
Flash Flash
Finally, for tortillas, look no further than the eccentric Flash Flash. The salad buffet is great but the real pull must be the omelet menu, with over 70 to choose from! The chic décor belies some great no-fuss food.
C/ Granada Del Penedès 25, 08006 Barcelona
