Robot

Vu Van Thang’s recent inspirational example shows us what is possible with a little energy and commitment. He’s built a functioning robot out of waste. How about hacking the N900 for your very own robot?

Imagine: You’ve got a favourite toy robot you used to love playing with at home. Tear out its insides and fill it with moving parts: tracks for the legs/feet, an Arduino circuit board for the innards. Attach a bluetooth transmitter/receiver and connect a Nokia N900 speaker for the mouth and an N900 camera for the eye. Program another N900 to serve as the remote control and navigate your robot using the screen and either the keyboard or accelerometer. You could use your phone’s microphone to communicate through the robot’s speaker, or perhaps keep a set of soundbites on the robot’s memory.

Who’s up for it?
