As we get questions in from everyone, we’ll add them here and share our answers. That way, this should become a useful starting point if you have a question.
Q: What sort of support will I get if I win the competition?
A: We will be funding winning hacks with an average of $1500 to cover the bulk of any additional equipment required to make them work – though if projects require more or less funding just let us know and we’ll consider it (we don’t want anything to get in the way of your thinking).
In addition to the funding, we’ll be giving all the winners N900 devices (more than one if we think it’s required) and our ongoing support wherever we can help out.
Remember too that the winning hacks will be featured on a number of Nokia blogs, undoubtedly be seen and admired by Nokia fans across the globe and also be featured as part of a series of installations in Nokia Flagship Stores. That’s money-can’t-buy stuff.
Q: How many winners will be chosen?
A: There will be five winners/winning teams.
Q: How long will winning individuals/teams have to get their project ready?
A: We haven’t finalised a timeline for the completion of projects but we currently estimate about 6 weeks.
Q: How many ideas can I submit?
A: You or your team can submit as many different ideas as you like. Try to make them as thought-out and detailed as possible.
Q: Where are the Terms and Conditions?
A: You can find the Terms and Conditions link at the bottom of the submissions page and are repeated here.
Q: Will the N900/Maemo 5 support Flash/Java?
A: Flash 9 and Java will both be supported.
Q: Has my submission been received?
A: E-mail us at pushn900-at-ovi.com with your team name and entry title and we will confirm receipt.

So should I start a discussion about an idea that I want to develop in order to find a team member?
by ashish on September 16, 2009 at 3:46 am
FAQ1 – Will you ever respond to the discussions and questions on this site?
by FOO on September 16, 2009 at 1:33 pm
@ashish – Yes that would be a great idea. We’re pretty sure other people might find that useful too.
@FOO – Yes. we’ve been doing so! If you have any other Qs then please do let us know.

@admin – How many ideas can we submit?
by metRo_ on September 22, 2009 at 7:50 pm
How many winning hacks will be selected, will there only be one winning team/hack?
by sevenbitbyte on September 22, 2009 at 8:54 pm
Hey Alan. There will be five winning teams/hacks and you can find a rough overview of the support provided in the FAQ discussion.

We can submit our ideas up to 11 october?
by metRo_ on September 24, 2009 at 7:02 pm
Hi Metro, you can submit an idea whenever you like, but we’re encouraging entrants to make proposals a full as possible. If you think you’ll need team mates to make the proposal viable for the judges to put through, then our advice is to get team mates first.
by admin on September 29, 2009 at 9:54 am
Yes, ideas can be submitted up until the 11th of October, any submitted after this will be invalid for inclusion.

What kind of timeframe are we looking at for project completion? I have a few ideas that are dependent on other long-term projects I’m working on, and I’m wondering how long the winning teams will have to complete their projects.
by sterling976 on October 4, 2009 at 11:53 pm
@sterling976
Hey,
We haven’t finalised a timeline for the completion of the winner’s projects, but we’re currently estimating about 6 weeks after the winners have been announced.

Could you give us more details on the details you want to get?
Do you expect only details on the what (e.g. feature descriptions, use cases) and maybe on the how (how we intend to implement the features) or also on the who (roles of the team members), on the when/how long (ggantt chart?), on the how much (costs and hours of work estimates), on what if (risk management), on which help is needed and so on.
I assume / hope you are only interested in the work description (what and how) and not in a fully fledged project plan, but there your request for details lack detail.
Cheers

Hey rps,
We’re looking for as much detail as possible on what your idea is and how you’ll think you might achieve that with the hardware. It’s not necessary to do a costing/work estimate.
Thanks!
