The Weekly Roundup: 29/01/10.
29.01.10
T-6 days! Yes, that’s right, there’s only 6 days left until all five of the winning PUSH teams will be touching down in London for the PUSH N900 showcase. The event’s looking all set, the invites have been sent out and I even got to go check out the venue before we start the transformation. Check the video below, and bookmark PUSHN900 on Qik, it’s how we’ll be showing you guys what’s going on at the party!
So what else has been happening in the world of PUSH?
A lot, that’s what! After the success of the current PUSH project, we’ve launched a second PUSH competition called PUSH N900: Mod In The USA. The concept is pretty much the same, but this time we’re offering cash prizes for all three winning entries, N900s and funding for the development and build stages. Oh, and a trip to CTIA Wireless 2010 conference in Las Vegas to showcase them! Want to submit an idea but need some more info or help? Head on over to the Discussion Wiki to start PUSHing.
As you’d expect with less than a week left until the teams have got to have fully working prototypes ready for the PUSH party, they’ve all been pretty busy.
Well, all but the Haptic Guide who let everyone know nice and early that they’ve got two fully functional prototypes and are as they put it, “La Fin.” Their third progress video went online this week, which you can check out here.
The Light Hack Crew have been busy, busy, busy. Madcheeze and Lady BNAS-NAS sweating it out in temperatures of up to 38degrees! It’s looking like all those initial worries are a thing of the past and they should be light graffiting all over the PUSH showcase next week. The third progress video from them also landed on the blog this week, you can check it out here.
Ricardo from KAPingWIthTheN900 briefly stopped by the blog to let us know that they’re running against the clock to finish their project, but that they’ve made advancements on the software front and that their substitute Picavet (the suspension system for the N900 on the kite) is completed. You can check out the full post here or check out their first example of KAV (Kite Aerial Video) below:
The Sketch Your World have also been putting the final touches to their Etch-A-Sketch™ project. They’ve blogged about all sorts of the problems and solutions they’ve been working with, from The Mysterious (and Qt!) Application to drawing a “Poor bunny.” And like that’s not enough. Sketch Your World, Episode 3 also went live.
Over in Germany, the Solderin Skaters have been a little quiet this week on the blogging front (it’s ok, we’re guessing they’re on lockdown in the lab) but they did let us know that they’ve been finalising their GUI and other visual stuff which you can watch here in Solderin Skaters, Episode 4.
Next week’s gonna be crazy, keep your eyes peeled for more progress videos, updates on PUSH N900 Mod In The USA and a heap of cool video and updates from the PUSH Showcase event!
