Ugh what a day that was! Worked out really well for us though, because the problem popped back up when we were getting set up in London.
Turns out all we needed to fix it was a quick compass calibration and we were off to the races. Apparently the compasses we used tend to lose thier callibration if exposed to a strong magentic field. Hit the reset, spin around in a circle for 20 seconds, and off you go!
A HUGE thank you for the paperclip to the Soldering Skaters! We used it as a jumper to start our callibration routine, and got the belt back on track.
We’re tweaking the design to incorporate a pair of accelerometers so we can error check the data automatically. That way the belt will TELL you if it needs callibration.
Recipe to make the belt work:
90% Nokia’s Brilliant Hardware
5% Red Bull sleep-replacement
5% German Paperclip Engineering
Also, an ENORMOUS thank you to Mat and Matt (and the rest of the folks at Hyper) for helping us through this process and hosting us in London, you guys are the BEST.
